We are greatly honored to once again enjoy the superb cuisine of Master Chef Jöel Guillon. Jöel is the Culinary Director, Maître Cuisiniers de France, of the Left Bank restaurant group, and also a recipient of the prestigious Chevalier Mérit Agricole awarded by the French government.
He has done many events for the IWFS spanning more than two decades of service. He is also recipient of the 2004 Rachel H. Norman, Award of Excellence, Outstanding Chef of French Cuisine.
Jöel is looking forward to introducing the new Left Bank Chef de Cuisine, Fabrice Marcon, to the group and to accompany him in preparing the extraordinary menu they have arranged for our event.
The 1986 vintage will be the theme of the evening. 1986 was an overlooked vintage for some time due to the highly rated 1985 vintage. Our branch founder, Dr. Haskell Norman, purchased many cases of the 1986 vintage, and the investment has produced outstanding results. These acquisitions were procured upon release and the wines have been perfectly stored.
The few 1986 wines we have served during the last couple of years have shown extremely well as a result of the benefit of proper aging. We are in for a very special experience indeed. Also in attendance will be our good friend, Jim Atwood, Chairman of the Oregon Wine and Food Society, one of the great ambassadors of Oregon Pinot Noir.
We look forward to welcoming Jim and his very special guest, Grand Master Mantak Chai from Thailand. I hope you will join us for this very special evening, for yet another memorable Burgundian experience.
