It is with great pleasure to present an elegant evening of wine and cuisine at one of San Francisco’s grand Hotels, The Four Seasons. Capturing with memorable pleasure a glimpse into the past, our event will be held in the elegant “Private Den”, where Executive Chef Mark Richardson will present a special menu for the evening. Chef Richardson’s impressive resume includes assignments at The Four Seasons, Chicago, Boston, and the Disneyland Resort in Paris. He brings a Southern influence to his cuisine, as best described in his own words; “The inspiration behind the menu is a testament to our creativity and collaborative experiments in the kitchen”.

During our recent outstanding weekend of events in Beverly Hills, member, and our Branch’s #1 recommended purveyor of fine wines, George Derbalian, CEO of Atherton Wine Imports, surprised us with a donation of a stunning wine for the evening. After enjoying a perfect 2002 Meursault Charmes-Lafon, George instructed the staff pour his surprise wine which stunned everyone, no one was able to guess what it might be, and then he captured us all by revealing a 2010 Pouilly-Fuissé “Les Ronchevats” Domaine Saumaize-Michelin, which showed as well, if not better, than the Lafon!

When I returned northland I immediately contacted him and said “send me a case straight on - I must have the wine for our next event” - it is with great enthusiasm to present it at the Four Seasons.

Surrounding the event with great Burgundy selections, I decided to present my own “Chairman’s Selection”, a wine from my own collection that I had presented privately to a few wine connoisseurs and winery owners which was received with great adulation. I will only confide that the wine is a 1979 vintage, which I will not reveal until the first enticing sip is enjoyed.

This evening was conceived as a result of IWFS member Toby Muller from the Oklahoma Branch, and member Ashby Decker of the Salt Lake City Branch, inquiring if I would plan a September event as a result of their upcoming visit to San Francisco.

Always at the ready to host such dignitaries, and fellow IWFS Branch members, I could not resist creating an event for them to enjoy by our beloved “City by the Bay”.

I hope you will join us for cuisine with a “twist”, and a playful evening with wine in the elegant setting of the “Private Den” at the Four Seasons, San Francisco. Special thanks to General Manager T. Oliver Lee, and our great friend, Four Seasons Director David Robinson, for making this event possible.
