Recently we learned of the extraordinary cuisine of one of San Francisco’s most established restaurants - One Market.
Executive Chef Mark Dommen’s spectacular Pan Seared Foie Gras and Pig’s Head Croquette was recently highlighted in the San Francisco Chronicle Food Section.
He has graciously offered to prepare his culinary creation for our group. Although I decided to feature a night of superb vintages of Meritage, I could not resist beginning the evening with the enticing 1977 Château ‘Y” to showcase Chef Dommen’s remarkable dish.
The wines for the evening are part of the Society’s superb collection of Meritage produced by two renowned producers of the Napa Valley, Dominus and Inglenook.
Dominus is the creation of one of the world’s great winemakers, Christian Moueix, who also manages the family vineyards, of Châteaux Petrus, La Fleur-Petrus, Trotanoy in Pomerol and Magdelaine in Saint Emilion. These Dominus wines are the first three vintages from the estate, and offer the enthusiast a rare tasting experience.
The legendary winery, Inglenook, is well known for it’s Napa Valley heritage and producing some the greatest wines from the area. “A Meritage Evening” promises to be an exciting wine experience enhanced by the perfectly executed dishes of Chef Dommen.
We are very much looking forward to our return visit to One Market and providing members with a unique evening of wine & food.
Best Wishes
Jack B. Rubyn, Chairman
