Fresh from our recent trip to Italy, we felt it was a good time to revisit Italian cuisine at San Francisco’s finest Michelin Star Italian restaurant, Acquerello.

Being one of our top recommendations to out-of- town guests and fellow IWFS members, there is simply no better Bay Area restaurant that exemplifies the character and excellence of the Italian dining experience. Executive Chef and Co-owner Suzette Gresham-Tognetti,  has taken her rightful place as one of the great Chefs of San Francisco. Her dishes showcase the finest ingredients available; exemplifying a blend of traditional flavors, enhanced by refined contemporary culinary techniques.

In addition to the fabulous menu Suzette has created for the evening, we decided to present the last bottles of the extraordinary 1970 and 1971 Barolo Monprivato by G. Mascarello. In addition, the 1988 Barbaresco - Faset and the 1982 Mastroberadino Taurasi Reserva are drinking extraordinarily well. We have enjoyed these spectacular wines on a number of occasions during the last two decades, and this will be a final opportunity to experience these sensational bottles.

We will solicit the expertise of Co-owner and Maître d’ Giancarlo Paterlini, who is perhaps the Bay Area’s most knowledgeable expert on Italian wines, to explain the history and importance of the wines, and their producers.
